According to his grandmother, Dylan started singing when he was three, singing “O Danny Boy” to strangers at the doctor’s office or any other captive audience. He kept a slightly-lower profile until age 16, when he made his stage debut as the Major-General in a high school production of “Pirates of Penzance”.

Throughout university, Dylan sang in and directed Wibijazz’n’, the York University contemporary chorus, where he developed his jazz chops and his love for a cappella singing. He’s been singing professionally, a cappella and otherwise, nonstop ever since.

On Stage

From 2003-2006, Dylan toured around the world as first tenor for Canada’s premiere a cappella vocal band Cadence . Dylan also sings with the 1980s top-40 a cappella band Retrocity, vocal-jazz quartet Hampton Four , the pan-stylistic FreePlay Duo , and sang with the Nathaniel Dett Chorale. Performance highlights include:

  • Impromptu performances with vocal maestro Bobby McFerrin
  • Performances for Nelson Mandela and Archbishop Desmond Tutu
  • Beatboxing in Calcutta. No, I’m not making that one up!

In The Studio

Dylan is in demand as a session singer, and has sung on Hollywood film soundtracks, radio and television jingles, and major-label albums. Versatile and musical, Dylan brings many skills to the studio:

  • perfect pitch
  • extended vocal range
  • strong sightreading skills
  • multistylistic, from classical to rock
  • exceptional knowledge of complex harmony (no hand-holding required, producers!)
  • ability to create “on the fly” vocal arrangements and scores

In addition to his session-singing skills, Dylan is an ideal choice for a vocal contractor. As a producer, arranger and performer, Dylan is familiar with all angles of production. He understands what you need, and knows who can deliver.

Dylan is also an excellent mimic/voice character, and will do most of the character voices from “The Simpsons”, whether you like it or not.
