Connecting traditions from a wealth of Asian musical traditions, Toronto erhu player Amely Zhou has assembled a compelling lineup of musicians. Each brings with them a depth of experience in a range of disciplines – from Chinese traditional music and Indian rhythms, to contemporary jazz – that will add up to an evening of cross-cultural fireworks. Struggling with learning your notes in choir? Tired of being the “leaner?” Or, maybe you just want brush up on your sight reading and ear training. Based on feedback from SICA (Summer Institute for Creative Adults) participants, acclaimed performer and masterclass instructor Dylan Bell has created a three-hour program designed to connect the notes on the page to the sounds in your ears. It’s all-Dylan, all the time! I’ll be onstage all afternoon with four different a cappella groups. The lineup:
